  • Year 9 Laptops

The school has been notified of an official delivery date for the Year 9 laptops. Upon arrival at school, our TSO will need a few days to prepare the laptops and then they will be issued to students. The commissioning process by students will require each Year 9 student to work with the TSO to set up the computer.  While this is a relatively simple process, students will need to pay close attention as errors in the process could permanently damage the machines. Machines will be issued to groups of up to 20 students at a time and the commissioning process will take up to 30 minutes. Year 9 should have their computer in the next 2 weeks and Year 8 will hopefully receive their computers in February 2010.

  • Moodle Trial Begins

ABHS is trialling an online learning environment called MOODLE. Its purpose is to allow teachers to present course content on line that students can access from home.

Computing students are trialling the system that allows them to receive notes, homework and assignments on line. They then submit their finished work and it is marked and returned, all within the moodle system. Students also have access to online forums to discuss problems they are having with course content.

Outgoing Year 12 students have recently unearthed a time capsule that they buried six years ago whilst they were in Year 7. With two weeks left of school before their HSC, some of the original class dug up the Capsule, under the direction of their then Year 7 teacher Mrs. Curran. It was an interesting exercise, seeing what has endured and what has persished. Thanks to our School General Assistant, Steve Sonter for his orienteering and map making skills!
